Pendlewood Fine Furniture

Pendlewood is located in inner city Salford. We have created long-term jobs in an employment black spot, developing highly skilled positions for long-term prosperity. Proving that the ideals of Local Agenda 21 can produce 'sustainable' companies working with locally sourced resources - thus closing the loop on supply and demand. Pendlewood is not supported by Local Government; we are self-funding through selling quality hardwood products. Pendlewood have traded for over 6 years specialising in creating bespoke furniture for our clients. We operate a 'Mid Life Policy'. With the demographic changes to large companies, the way they work has changed with many of these companies throwing away people over the age of 45. Pendlewood believes this to be both a waste and a lost opportunity so we recruit from this age group giving them training and long-term prospects. Our 'Youth Policy' is aimed at people between the ages of 16-20 who have not realised their full potential in education, and who need extra training to enable them to realise their true potential. By combining the two we will prosper for the future, gaining the enthusiasm of our young people and mixing this with the experience of age to over-come the problems of long-term unemployment.

As an eco friendly carpentry company we feel the need to explain the origins of our timber that we utilise. All of our timber comes from sustainably managed forests. Our locally produced timber is truly sustainable as we can monitor the re-forestation of our local plantations. Our own community forest to date has planted 895,400 native broad leaf trees, leaving a great green legacy for our future generations to enjoy. Street trees provide an important part of our timber supplies. These trees are usually only removed at the last resort, usually due to re-development or at the natural end of their life. Our locally produced timber can usually be traced from the day of planting to the dignified end of its first life.

We at Pendlewood have developed our own planking and air-drying facilities, so that our timber can be seasoned naturally to avoid any additional strain on the environment. The second life of the tree is as part of one of our many products. Our small but growing team is dedicated to making fine hand crafted furniture ranging from memorial benches to boardroom tables.

From the humble beginnings in a garden shed with a dream and lots of drive and ambition we have travelled a long way on the businesses journey. During that journey we have never lost our dedication to the environment or our drive to produce some of the best-handcrafted furniture available in the UK.
